There are many ways for a team to qualify for a World Series National Championship. Below are the ways a team can qualify. 

Due to the date USSSA released these new qualification rules, teams in New York and New England will be grandfathered into the prior At-Large Bid rules which states teams need to play just 2 USSSA events to qualify for 2018.


At-Large Qualification

There are several processes by which a team can gain an At-Large USSSA Post Season berth:

  • Due to the date USSSA released these new qualification rules, teams in New York and New England will be grandfathered into the prior At-Large Bid rules which states teams need to play just 2 USSSA events to qualify for 2018.
  • USSSA Points:  Teams can earn an At-Large by participating in USSSA events throughout the season.  If a team earns 150 Points through USSSA participation they will automatically be granted an At-Large Berth.
  • State Director Application:  A team can apply for an At-Large Berth with their State Director.  For a team to be given an At-Large Berth by their State Director, it is recommended that they accrue a minimum of 4 USSSA Event Credits.  USSSA Event Credits are earned by Stature of the event:
    • League/One Day Shootout/Qualifier = 1 Point
    • NIT = 2 Points
    • State Championship = 3 Points   
  • For Teams located in an area without a State Director, or teamas with a hardship to play the required number of events due to the distabce they live from USSSA qialifiers, they can apply to the USSSA National Championship director by emailing. 
You earn points toward quailfications in events based on many criteria.
 
 
Pool Play Points
  • Teams will receive 10 Points per Pool Flight Game Win
  • Teams will receive 10 Points as the Pool Winner
Bracket Play Points
  • Teams will receive Points per Bracket Flight Game Win (Based on the type of bracket)
  • Brackets will be designated Gold/Silver/Bronze based upon the ranking of the bracket
  • Additionally, Bracket Points are awarded differently for Championship Bracket game winners and Consolation Bracket Game winners.
  • Byes are awarded as a Bracket Win for Championship/Winner’s Brackets only
  • Bracket Point Structures is as follows: Gold Designated Flights (when a single elimination bracket is used for a division it is designated as Gold).
    • Championship Bracket Game Winners: 15 Points
    • Consolation Bracket Game Winners: 7 Points
  • Silver Designated Flights

    • Championship Bracket Game Winners: 7 Points
    • Consolation Bracket Game Winners: 3 Points
  • Bronze Designated Flights

    • Championship Bracket Game Winners: 3 Points
    • Consolation Bracket Game Winners: 1 Point
Additional Information
In-Event Points do not multiply on Double Point Weekends, NIT, State or any other stature

Direct Qualification Through Events

  • At the conclusion of designating qualifying events (based on stature) the system will identify and award the appropriate teams with a Qualified designation.  The following is the criteria being used:

Event Statures to Award Berths

  • One Day Tournament
    • Top 20% of teams that are unqualified will receive a berth
    • Team must be at or above .500 in the event
  • Qualifier

    • Top 25% of teams that are unqualified will receive a berth
    • Team must be at or above .500 in the event
  • NIT

    • Top 30% of teams that are unqualified will receive a berth
    • Team must be at or above .500 in the event
  • State Tournament

    • Top 30% of teams that are unqualified will receive a berth
    • Team must be at or above .500 in the event
